KALAMAZOO/HOPE Mich. – The Carthage College Red Men dropped their first two matches of the 2016 season, falling at Kalamazoo College, 7-2, in the morning before falling to Wabash in Holland, Michigan, 6-3.
The losses drop the Red Men to 5-2 on the indoor season.
In the first match of the day, the Hornets proved too much for the Red Men sweeping the doubles competition and winning four of six singles matches.
Ryan Jump and
Pawel Jaworski were the lone two Carthage players to garner wins in their respective matches.
Against Wabash, Jump along with
Alex Boomgarden won the lone Red Men's lone doubles match, knocking off their two-doubles opponent, 8-5. Boomgarden, along with P. Jaworski, then won their singles matches, as Boomgarden knocked off Mike Makio [6-2, 6-3] and Jaworski topped Jordan Greenwell [6-3, 6-2].
The Red Men continue their spring indoor season with two mactches next week, starting with a home match on Friday, February 26th at the Racine Tennis Club against Aquinas College, before heading to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Sunday to face Coe College.
