FULL GAME NOTES
THE GAME
-The Carthage College women's basketball team will conclude their two-game home stand against Carroll University (0-7, 0-0 CCIW) on Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Reds will travel to Augustana College (6-0, 1-0 CCIW) on Saturday, December 10 at 5:00 p.m.
-Wednesday's contest will mark Carroll's first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game since returning to the league this season.
-The Pioneers will enter their bout with Carthage in pursuit of their first victory of the 2016-17 season. Brittney Wald leads the Pioneers in scoring with 17.6 points per game.
-Three of Carroll's losses on the season came against ranked opponents, with their most recent coming in a 84-51 decision against #12 UW-Oshkosh on December 3.
-Augustana will take an undefeated 6-0 record into their game at Elmhurst College on December 7.Â
-The Vikings have eclipsed the 100-point plateau in three-of-six games this season.
-Augustana opened conference action with an 88-85 win over North Park University on December 3. Corrie Reilly leads the Vikings in scoring with 14.3 points per game.Â
THE COACHES
-The 2016-17 season is Lindsay Schultz's first as Carroll University head women's basketball coach. She joined the Pioneers following three seasons as Cardinal Stritch's assistant coach.
-Mark Beinborn is in his fifth season as Augustana College head women's basketball coach. He arrived to Augustana following two seasons as Edgewood College's assistant men's basketball coach.Â
THE SERIES
-The Lady Reds hold a 26-25 all-time record against Carroll University. The two schools last met on December 28, 2013 in Las Vegas when the Lady Reds defeated Carroll 88-61.Â
-Carthage carries a 37-27 all-time mark against Augustana College while winning 22 of the last 23 meetings.
LAST TIME OUT
-The Lady Reds fell to #21 UW-Stevens Point 66-50 on November 30, and rebounded with a 96-80 win over Millikin University on December 3.
-Bailey Gilbert (21), Madie Kaelber (19), Rachel Szydlowski (14), Autumn Kalis (13) and Morgan Harris (10) made up the five Lady Reds who tallied double-figure points in their victory over Millikin University. Gilbert and Szydlowski's point totals were season-highs. Harris also contributed a career-high nine assists in the game while Gilbert tied for a career-high seven.
-Carthage achieved a team-high 96 points, 25 assists, 34 field goals made and a .523 field goal percentage.
SETTING THE TONE
Carthage owns a 3-0 record this season when they score first.Â
RECORD WATCH
Harris sits in first place on the Carthage College record book with an .809 (178-220) career free-throw percentage.Â
CONFERENCE/NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Lady Reds rank sixth in NCAA Division III with a .795 free-throw percentage. Carthage's 66 three-point field goals made and .420 three-point field goal percentage each rank fifth in the country.Â
Mandy Hozzian's .560 (14-for-25) is good enough for sixth among all NCAA Division III women's basketball players.Â
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Bethel University, Stevenson University and Allegheny College make up the trio of opponents on the 2016-17 slate the Lady Reds have never faced. The Lady Reds defeated Bethel University 70-61 on November 18.Â
HANGING ON
The Lady Reds own a 4-0 mark this season when they hold a lead with 2:00 left in the game.Â
BIG BLUE'S
Gilbert tallied a season-high 21 points in Carthage's 96-80 win over Millikin University on December 3. Gilbert tallied a career-high 24 points in the Lady Red's previous meeting with the Big Blue on February 20, 2016.Â
FIVE ALIVE
Five players tallied double-figure points in the Lady Red's 96-80 win over Millikin on December 3. The last time five Carthage players scored in double-figures was in a 75-72 loss to Illinois Wesleyan on January 30, 2016.Â
VIKING'S NUMBER
The Lady Reds have defeated the Vikings 22 out of their last 23 meetings, with their only loss in that span coming in a 56-51 decision on January 23, 2016.Â
CAREER-HIGHS
Hozzian (seven rebounds vs. Millikin, 12/3/16), Harris (nine assists vs. Millikin, 12/3/16), and Maggie Berigan (six field goal attempts vs. UW-Stevens Point, 11/30/16) each tallied career-highs for the Lady Reds last week.Â
