Women's Tennis Cruises To 9-0 Win Over Illinois Wesleyan Saturday

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds rebounded from a tough loss on Friday with an emphatic victory on Saturday, October 8th with a 9-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan University at Smeds Tennis Center.
 
The win sends the Lady Reds to 4-3 in 2016 and 3-2 overall in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the Titans drop to 4-6 and 2-5 in the CCIW.
 
Carthage started the day with a sweep of the doubles competition to take a commanding 3-0 lead.  Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil as well as Casey Frommer and Kristen Kalinka both won 8-3 and Eliza Barter and Natalie Favia won 8-2 in the one through three doubles respectively.
 
In the singles matches, Carthage cruised to straight set victories in five of the six contests.
 
In the two through six singles Mella defeated Dana Dray [6-1, 6-0], Emmanouil topped Brianna Dao [6-1, 6-0], Kalinka downed Megan Hippe [6-3, 6-3], Barter beat Gail Mar [6-1, 6-2] and Favia bested Sam Robinson [6-2, 6-2].
 
Casey Frommer won via retirement as Lauren Neitzel withdrew following the first game of the opening set.
 
Carthage will have their third match in four days on Monday as the Lady Reds head to Chicago, Illinois for a match at North Park University.
