Women's Tennis Drops Match Friday To Wheaton, 6-3

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds fell Friday to the Wheaton College Thunder at Smeds Tennis Center, 6-3.
 
The loss drops the Lady Reds to .500 on the season at 3-3 in dual meets and .500 in the conference at 2-2.  Wheaton improves to 6-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and moves to 9-1 overall.
 
Carthage opened the day successfully in the doubles competition with a pair of wins to take a 2-1 lead. 
 
Number ones Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil defeated Katie Park and Emily Jones, 8-4, and Eliza Barter and Natalie Favia downed Emma Westwick and Kate Booker, 8-6, in the number three doubles match.
 
However Wheaton would turn things around in the singles competition taking five of the six matches to win the match, 6-3.  Mella won the lone match for Carthage, defeating Jones in the number two singles in straight sets (6-4, 6-0).
 
The Lady Reds will look to bounce back quickly as Carthage returns to Smeds Saturday, October 8th to face the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University.
