KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College Lady Reds wrapped-up their 2016 fall regular season Saturday with a pair of impressive showings at Smeds Tennis Center, as the Lady Reds defeated North Central College and Millikin University.
The 2-0 afternoon improves Carthage to 7-3 on the year in dual matches a ranks the Lady Reds third heading to next week's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Tennis Championship with a 6-2 conference record.
Carthage opened the day with taking two-of-three in the doubles competition against North Central College with the Lady Reds taking the doubles two and three matches.
Casey Frommer and
Kristen Kalinka defeated Katie Drone and Marisa Coladipietro, 8-1, and
Eliza Barter and
Natalie Favia took down Isabelle Wostoupal and Lauren Dvorak, 8-0.
Carthage then cruised in singles against the Cardinals as Frommer, Kalinka, Barter,
Max Mella and
Angelica Emmanouil won in straight sets. Favia won by default.
Against Millikin, Carthage rolled to doubles victories in each of the three matches, 8-2, 8-3 and 8-4 respectively.
The Lady Reds once against cruised in the singles competition as each Carthage competitor won their respective matches in straight sets. Frommer won the one-singles, 6-0, 6-1, Mella took the two-singles, 6-1, 6-0, Emmanouil didn't drop a set in the three singles, 6-0, 6-0, Kalinka won the four-singles, 6-0, 6-4, Barter took the five-singles, 6-3, 6-0, and Favia rounded out the sweep going, 6-0, 6-1, in the six-singles.
The 2016 CCIW Women's Tennis Championship gets underway Thursday, October 20th and runs through Saturday, October 22nd at the Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois hosted by North Park University. The schedule and order of play will be announced at a later date.
