KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's tennis team dropped their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener to Augustana College, 8-1, at Carthage's Smed Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
Â
Carthage (2-1, 0-1 CCIW) was unable to get the late-set magic going in the double the competition, which they have relied on early this season, as Augustana (7-0, 3-0 CCIW) swept the Lady Reds doubles-squads, 8-4, 8-5 and 8-0 respectively.
Â
It continued to be a tough day for the Lady Reds, as the Vikings controlled most of the singles competition, as Carthage's one through five singles players fell.
Â
Carthage's lone victory Friday came as
Kirsten Peterson topped Augustana's number six, Madeline Lombardi, 7-6, 7-6.
Â
The Lady Reds will look to bounce-back in conference-play, Monday, September 21st, when the Lady Reds travel to Millikin University for a makeup date following last week's cancellation due to weather. First serve is set for 4PM at Millikin's Fairview Park Tennis Center in Decatur, Ill.
