Carthage College had two qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship.  With the top-20 individuals qualifying for the championship, Carthage's Branden Miller (Sr., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) was ranked 10th in the shot put (54-7 1/4), 14th in the hammer throw (189-8) and 19th in the discus (165-0).  Mark Balmes (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) was ranked fifth in the discus (174-7).  This year's championship was held on Thursday-Saturday, May 21-23 at St. Lawrence University's Merrick-Pinkard Track in Canton, N.Y.  Miller finished eighth in the shot put (53-9), 12th in the discus (163-9) and 18th in the hammer throw (176-6).  Balmes was 10th in the discus (163-9).  The Red Men tied for 74th place in the national championship.
