Men's Tennis Defeats North Central College, 9-0, and Lake Forest College, 8-1, on April 3

The Carthage College men's tennis team (12-6, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin), ranked No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's March 26 Division III Central Region poll, downed conference-opponent North Central College (5-9, 0-2 CCIW), 9-0, and then defeated Lake Forest College (8-10), 8-1, on Friday, April 3.

In the match against North Central, Pawel Jaworski (So., Deerfield, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson, 11-9) defeated the Cardinal's Oliver Moews at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and then defeated Lake Forest's Dan Pivonka 7-5, 6-0. Alex Boomgarden (Jr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 17-4) was also a winner in both of his No. 2 singles matches, defeating the Cardinal's Connor Sass 6-2, 6-1 and the Forester's Ellis Lora-Arceo 6-0, 6-1. Jordan Verbauwhede (Jr., Whitelawe, Wis./Manitowoc-Lincoln, 15-8) won his match against North Central, but then fell to Lake Forest at No. 3 singles. Ryan Jump (Jr., Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein, 15-3) won both of his matches at No. 4 singles, as did Chris Conley (Jr., Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield Academy, 17-6) at No. 5 singles, and Alex Ferruzzi (Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central, 13-8) at No. 6 singles
 
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Jaworski and Verbauwhede (13-6) defeated North Central's team of Moews and Alex Vasic 8-4, and then edged the Forester's pair of Pivonka and John Snider, 9-7. The No. 2 doubles duo of Boomgarden and Conley (14-4) won both of their matches at No. 2 doubles, as did the pair of Jump and Ferruzzi (5-4) at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Red Men take on Millikin University in a 4 p.m. match on Friday, April 10 at the Fairview Park Tennis Center in Decatur, Ill.
