Box ScoreThe Carthage College men's tennis team (16-6, 5-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin), ranked No. 16 in the April 9 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III Central Region poll, defeated conference-opponent Augustana College (10-10, 2-2 CCIW), 8-1, on Saturday, April 18 at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Pawel Jaworski (So., Deerfield, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson, 14-10) was a winner at No. 1 singles, defeating the Viking's Eric Pohl, 6-3, 6-3.
Alex Boomgarden (Jr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 21-4) was also  winner at No. 2 singles, defeating Patrick Lenz, 7-6(7), 6-2.
Ryan Jump (Jr., Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein, 19-3) won his match at No. 3 singles, as did
Jordan Verbauwhede (Jr., Whitelawe, Wis./Manitowoc-Lincoln, 19-8) at No. 4 singles,
Chris Conley (Jr., Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield Academy, 21-6) at No. 5 singles, and
Alex Ferruzzi (Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central, 17-8) at No. 6 singles.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Jaworski and Verbauwhede (17-6), ranked ninth in the region, defeated the Augustana's duo of Lawrence Palmer and Harold Olsson 8-6. Boomgarden and Conley (18-4) were also successful at No. 2 doubles, however, the team of Jump and Ferruzzi (8-5) fell at No. 3 doubles.

The Red Men continue match play against conference-opponent Wheaton College on Thursday, April 23 at 4 p.m. at the Wheaton Tennis Courts in Wheaton, Ill.
