Women's Tennis Blank Both Lake Forest and Concordia (Wis.) on April 12

Lady Reds Play Wisconsin-Whitewater and Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday

The Carthage women's tennis team (19-1, 7-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked No. 13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's March 26 NCAA Division III-Central Region poll, competed in a double-dual meet against Lake Forest College (13-9) and Concordia University (Wis., 9-8) on Sunday, April 12, at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis. The Lady Reds shut out the Foresters, 9-0, and the Falcons, 5-0.
 
In the match against Lake Forest, Haleigh McPeek (Sr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 20-5) defeated Lake Forest's Grace Dowling at No. 1 singles 3-6, 7-5, 10-7. Max Mella (Fr., Warren, Ill./Warren Township, 17-8) also won her match at No. 2 singles, defeating the Foresters' Christi Valicenti 6-0, 7-6(1). Abbi Howell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 22-8) was also a winner at No. 3 singles., as was Taylor Bolyard (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 20-5) at No. 4 singles, Kristen Kalinka (So., Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph, 10-4) at No. 5 singles, and Kirsten Peterson (Jr., Hastings, Minn./Hastings, 22-5) at No. 6 singles.
 
The No. 1 doubles tandem of McPeek and Mella (25-5) defeated Lake Forest's duo of Dowling and Valicenti 9-8(5). The No. 2 doubles pair of Bolyard and Kalinka (26-4) as did the No. 3 double team of Howell and Peterson (7-2) both with a score of 8-0.
 
The match against Concordia ended early due to rain, however, Mell completed her match at No. 2 singles against the Falcon's Emily McCormick 6-0, 6-0. Howell also won her match at No. 3 singles against Sabine Jacobsen 6-0, 6-0. The No. 1 doubles duo of McPeek and Mella defeated the duo of Hannah Tresedder and McCormick 8-0. The team of Bolyard and Kalinka also won their match at No. 2 doubles by the same margin, as did the pair of  Emily Kratz (So., Waukesha, Wis./South) and Lauren Woznicki (Fr., Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius Prep 2-2).
 
Carthage concludes its regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 18 with a pair of matches.  The Lady Reds take on Wisconsin-Whitewater at 9 a.m. at the Wangerin Tennis Courts in Whitewater, Wis., before returning home to play Carroll University (Wis.) in a 4 p.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
