Box Score 2 The Carthage College softball team (3-7, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) lost two games on Wednesday, March 25 at the National Training Center Springs Games in Clermont, Fla., falling to Buena Vista University (8-8), 2-1, before losing to Wellesley College (4-4), 8-6. The Lady Reds have lost four games in a row.
Buena Vista took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the sixth. Carthage scored its lone run in the seventh on an RBI-single by
Becky Cronk. Moriah Guyett (4-2) was the winning pitcher, and she stopped the Lady Reds on one unearned run and six hits over seven innings.
Katie Herron (1-2) took the loss for Carthage.
The Lady Reds opened the trip on Saturday, March 21 with a 5-3 loss to Ripon College and 3-0 loss to No. 20 William Paterson University. On Sunday, March 22, Carthage defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology (0-3), 8-0, before edging Carleton College (5-5), 1-0. Carthage split a pair of games on Monday, March 23, losing to Union College (2-3), 4-3, before defeating Colby College (2-1) by a 7-2 margin. On Tuesday, March 24 the Lady Reds fell to No. 5 Wisconsin-Whitewater (5-2), 8-0, before being edged by D'Youville College (6-4) by a 5-4 margin.
The trip concludes on Thursday, March 26 with an 11 a.m. game versus Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a 1 p.m. contest against Thomas College.
