The Carthage College men's tennis team (1-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) were defeated by Carleton College (6-0), 5-4, on Sunday, Feb. 8 at the Racine Racquet & Fitness Club in Racine, Wis.
 
Pawel Jaworski (So., Deerfield, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson, 4-1) defeated Carleton's Erik Johnson at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Jordan Verbauwhede (Jr., Whitelawe, Wis./Manitowoc-Lincoln, 4-3) was defeated at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-3, as was teammate Chris Conley (Jr., Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield Academy, 5-2) at No. 3 singles losing 6-2, 6-1, to the Knights. Alex Boomgarden (Jr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 5-1) was a winner at No. 4 singles, while Alex Ferruzzi (Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central, 4-1) lost at No. 5 singles. Nick Stephan (Sr., Long Grove, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson, 4-1) was a winner at No. 6 singles defeating Carleton's Ezra Frankel 3-6, 7-5, 12-10.
 
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Jaworski and Verbauwhede (1-1) were defeated by the Knights' duo of Johnson and Andrew Hwang, 8-6. The team of Conley and Boomgarden (2-0) won, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, while the No. 3 doubles pair of Stephan and Conor Moon (Sr., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock, Ill.-Marian Central Catholic, 1-1) was defeated 8-5.
 
On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Red Men will travel to Middleton, Wis., to play a double-dual match against UW-La Crosse at 5 p.m. and then Edgewood College at 8 p.m. at the Hitters Sportsplex.
