ResultsThe Carthage College men's track and field team (20-7 indoor record) finished third at the Friday-Saturday, Feb. 6-7 Illinois Wesleyan University "Bob Keck Invitational" at the Shirk Center Fieldhouse in Bloomington, Ill. Washington University (Mo.) won the six-team event with 98 points, one point ahead of second-place Loras College at 97 and three points of third-place Carthage at 95. The host-Titans were fourth with 46 points, followed by Millikin University fifth at 39 and Monmouth College sixth with 39 points.
Carthage's
Branden Miller (Sr., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) won the shot put (53-11 ¾) and took second in the weight throw (55-11 ¾), while
Camren Howard (Fr., Olympia Fields, Ill./Chicago Heights-Marian Catholic) won the one-mile run (4:29.20).
Mike Brown (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./East) was second in the 60-meter dash (7.08) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.97).
Tyler Parsons (So., Woodstock, Ill.) took second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.67), as did
Mark Balmes (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) in the shot put (52-2 ½).
Dan Cotton (Fr., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) was third in the one-mile run (4:33.70), as was Gus Shipp (Fr., Northbrook, Ill./Glenview-Glenbrook South) in the 60-meter hurdles (8.90) and
Nick Hinton (Fr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) in the high jump 6-7 ½).
Mike Gulik (Jr., Elgin, Ill./Burlington-Central) was fourth in the 400-meter dash (51.61).
The Red Men travel to Naperville, Ill., on Saturday, Feb. 14 for the Chicagoland Indoor Championship at North Central College's Al Carius Track, beginning at 11 a.m.
