LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Carthage College men's swimming and diving team joined in the winning-ways at Lake Forest College as the Red Men defeated the Foresters, 134.5-97.5, Friday, October 30th.
The Red Men took first in six of the 12 events Friday including both relays. Additionally, Carthage took the runner-up slot in 10 of the events to secure the win.
Individually,
Cameron Small,
Mitch Scarski,
Sam Gabriel, and
Chris Riordan won individual events and
Aric Lang,
Chris Russo,
Nick Sall,
Aaron San Juan,
Lucas Linder,
Nathan Morris and Scarski finished second in events.
Senior
Cameron Small won the 50-meter freestyle sprint by two-hundredths of a second over Lake Forest's Travis Johnson with a time of 25.24 seconds to give the Red Men their first individual win of the night.
Carthage's
Mitch Scarski and
Nick Sall finished first and second respectively in the 200-meter individual medley with Scarski turning in a top time of 2:16.44.
Sam Gabriel, the reigning College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Simmer of the Week, once again won the 100 –meter backstroke as he finished in 1:00.69 to edge teammate
Mitch Scarski who finished second.
In the final individual event of the night,
Chris Riordan tied for the 100-meter breaststroke win with Lake Forest's Samuel Freedberg with a time of 1:09.87.
In the 200-meter medley relay the Carthage College A-team of Gabriel, Devereux, Linder and
Lee Hollman defeated Lake Forest's top relay team by five-tenths of a second with a time of 1:50.29. In the final relay of the night Hollman teamed-up with Small, Russo and
James Hasbrouck to win the 200 free relay by nearly a second ahead of LFC.
The Red Men will join the Lady Reds again Sunday as Carthage competes at the November 1st Rose-Hulman Triangular in Chesterton, Indiana with Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Albion College.
