ResultsThe Carthage College men's track and field team (11-4 indoor record) finished fourth at the Friday, Jan. 23 North Central College "Cardinal Opener" at the Al Carius Track in Naperville, Ill. The host-Cardinals won the five team event with 189 points, followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater second at 145, Wisconsin-Oshkosh third at 129, Carthage fourth at 75.50 and St. Norbert College fifth with 42.50 points.
Carthage's
Mike Brown (Sr., St. Charles, Ill./East) finished second in the 200-meter dash (22.62).
Mark Balmes (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) was third in the shot put (52-9 ½) and fifth in the weight throw (51-4 ¼).
Ron Banks (Sr., Waukegan, Ill.) took third in the triple jump (41-3 ¼) and sixth in the long jump (20-9 3.4).
David Goodalis (Jr., Naperville, Ill./Central) was third in the weight throw (53-3), and
Nick Hinton (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) tied for third place in the high jump (6-5).
Tyler Parsons (So., Woodstock, Ill.) was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.74), as was
Branden Miller (Sr., Winfield, Ill./Wheaton-North) in the weight throw (53-0).
Camren Howard (Fr., Olympia Fields, Ill./Chicago Heights-Marian Catholic) finished fifth in the one-mile run (4:30.20), as did
Dan Cotton (Fr., Carol Stream, Ill./Bartlett) in the 3,000-meter run (8:57.69).
Gabe Cotton (So., Vernon Hills, Ill.) was sixth in the 60-meter dash (7.30).
The Red Men play host to the Carthage "Tadd Metzger Invitational" on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at 3:30 p.m.
