The Carthage College women's tennis team (4-0, 2-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) defeated Augustana College (3-1, 1-1 CCIW), 5-4, and Monmouth College (1-4), 9-0, on Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Augustana Tennis Center in Rock Island, Ill. 

Haleigh McPeek (Sr. Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 3-1) split at No. 1 singles, falling to Augustana's Lauren Goggin, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, and then defeating Monmouth's Katherine Hinmann, 6-0, 6-0. Max Mella (Fr., Warren, Ill./Warren Township, 3-1) also split at No. 2 singles, losing to Augustana, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 and then defeating Monmouth, 6-0, 6-0. Abbi Howell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 3-2) split at No. 3 singles. Eliza Barter (So., Deerfield, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy, 3-2) lost to Augustana at No. 4 singles. Taylor Bolyard (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 3-0) defeated Augustana's Vicki Andonova, 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5, at No. 5 singles. Kirsten Peterson (Jr., Hastings, Minn./Hastings, 4-1) won both her matches, playing No. 6 singles against Augustana and then No. 4 singles against Monmouth. Kristen Kalinka (So., Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph, 2-0) defeated Monmouth at No. 5 singles, as did Emily Kratz (So.,Waukesha, Wis./South, 1-0) at No. 6 singles.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of McPeek and Mella (7-0) continued a successful doubles record defeating both Augustana, 8-6, and Monmouth, 8-1. Howell and Barter (4-0) at No. 2 doubles and Kalinka and Bolyard (4-1) at No. 3 doubles, also won both of their doubles matches.

On Friday, September 12, the Lady Reds will host Millikin University at 4 p.m. at the Smeds Tennis Courts in Kenosha, Wis.
