Haleigh McPeek (Sr. Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 1-0) defeated Wesleyan's Josie Linman, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles. Maxine Mella (Fr., Warren, Ill./Warren Township, 1-0) was also a winner at No. 2 singles, defeating Brianna Dao, 6-3, 6-2.
Abbi Howell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 1-0) defeated Gail Mar at No. 3 singles, winning, 6-4, 6-3.
Eliza Barter (So., Deerfield, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy, 1-0) at No. 4 singles,
Taylor Bolyard (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 1-0) at No. 5 singles, and
Kirsten Peterson (Jr., Hastings, Minn./Hastings, 1-0) at No. 6 singles were also victorious in their matches.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of McPeek and Mella (1-0) defeated Wesleyan's pair of Dao and Mar, 8-1. Howell and Barter (1-0) were also triumphant at No. 2 doubles as were the duo of Kristin Kalinka (So., Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph) and Bolyard at No. 3 doubles (1-0).
The Lady Reds will travel to Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday Aug. 30 to play in the "Warhawk Invitational" beginning at 8 a.m. at the Wangerin Tennis Courts.
