Wheaton College (Ill., 14-5, 5-1 CCIW) defeated North Central College (10-10, 2-4 CCIW), 8-1, in the other semifinal contest. Augustana (Ill., 18-6) takes on Wheaton (Ill., 14-5) in the Saturday, May 3 The tournament-championship match at Berens Park in Elmhurst, Ill.
In the loss to Augustana, Carthage's
Haleigh McPeek (Jr. Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 16-11) lost to the Vikings' Kim Sawyer at No. 1 singles, the latter winning, 7-6(6), 4-6, 7-6(6).
Bari Reynolds (Sr., Sterling, Ill., 15-13) defeated Lauren Goggin at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Abbi Howell (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 16-14) lost at No. 3 singles, as did
Eliza Barter (Fr., Deerfield, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy, 10-16) at No. 4 singles,
Holly Weber (Sr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central, 13-10) at No. 5 singles contests and
Kelsey Bowen (Sr., Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton Township, 14-7) at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Reds' No. 1 doubles team of Reynolds and McPeek (23-5) split defeated Augustana's Lauren Goggin and Dana Goggin, 8-6. Carthage's No 2 team of Howell and Barter (12-12) won, but the Lady Reds' No. 3 tandem of
Holly Weber and Kristin Kalinka (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph, 18-8) lost.
