Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (2-1, 1-0 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) lost 50 degrees in six days but won its home-opener on Saturday, March 8 with an 18-10 decision over conference-opponent the College of Mount St. Joseph (0-2, 0-1 MWLC) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. 

The Lady Reds last played on in balmy Sewanee, Tenn., on Sunday, March 2 with a game-time temperature was in the low 70s—it was 22 degrees on Saturday with a wind chill of 10 degrees.  
 
Carthage broke a 2-2 tie for with five unanswered goals to take a 7-2 lead at 2:51 first period.  The Lady Reds had a 9-4 halftime lead and out-scored the Lions, 9-6, in the second period. 
 
Lauren Chatham (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) led Carthage with four goals and two assists.  Sydney Whitaker (Sr., Bainbridge, Wash.) scored three goals with three ground balls.  Anna Schweiss (Sr., Parker, Colo./Chaparral) had three goals, Elizabeth Wittenborg (So., Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) two goals, and Madison Griffin (Fr., Parker, Colo./Ponderosa) added a goal with four assists and four ground balls.  Erica Walsh led Mount St. Joseph with four goals and two ground balls, and Samantha Hughes chipped in three goals with two assists and two ground balls.
 
Carthage plays host to the Illinois Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 19 in a 7 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
