The Carthage College men's tennis team (11-6, 0-1 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) concluded a four-match spring trip to Orlando, Fla., on Thursday, March 27 with a 9-0 win over Calvin College (3-4).  Carthage opened the trip on Sunday, March 23 with a 9-0 win over Hamline University (3-6).  On Monday, March 24, the Red Men lost a pair of matches, falling to Luther College (10-4), 7-2, in the morning before losing to the University of West Alabama (17-1), 8-1, on Monday night.
 
In the win over Calvin on March 27, Carthage's Alex Boomgarden (So., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 15-9) defeated the Knights' Loukas Peterson at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.  Ryan Jump (So., Mundelein, Ill., 15-7) won over Calvin's Tom Griffin at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.  Pawel Jaworski (Fr., Deerfield, Ill., 15-6) was a winner at  No. 3 singles, as was Chris Conley (So., Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield Academy, 12-9) at No. 4 singles, Tony O'Connell (So., Roswell, N.M./Natabua, 15-7) at No. 5 singles and Alex Ferruzzi (So., Kenosha, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central, 11-9) at No. 6 singles.  Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Pawel Jaworski and Chris Conley (4-4) defeated the Knights' Loukas Peterson/Taylor Asfour, 8-4.  The Red Men's No. 2 team of Alex Boomgarden and Ryan Jump (4-3) won their match, as did the No. 3 tandem of Tony O'Connell and Alex Feruzzi (2-2).
 
Carthage plays host to CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University on Sunday, April 6 in an 11:30 a.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
