Women's Lacrosse Loses to the University of the South, 16-7, on March 2

Lady Reds Scheduled to Open at Home on Saturday vs. Mount St. Joseph

Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (1-1, 0-0 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) ended a two-day trip to balmy Sewanee, Tenn., on Sunday, March 2 with a 16-7 loss to the University of the South (5-1) at Puett Field.  Game-time temperature was in the low 70s—it was under eight degrees in Kenosha on Sunday.  The Lady Reds opened the 2014 season on Saturday, March 1 with a 22-2 win over Hendrix College (2-5), also at Puett Field.
 
In the loss to Sewanee, the Tigers took a 12-5 halftime lead and outscored the Lady Reds, 4-2, in the second period.  Katie Riddle led Sewanee with four goals and three assists, while Sally Anne Greenwood scored four goals with two ground balls.  Lauren Chatham (Sr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) led Carthage with three goals and an assist, while Sydney Whitaker (Sr., Bainbridge, Wash.) added two goals with two ground balls. 
 
Carthage is scheduled to open at home on Saturday, March 8 with a Noon contest against conference-opponent the College of Mount St. Joseph.
