The Carthage College women's tennis team (5-1, 3-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) won its fifth-straight match on Friday, Sept. 13 by shutting out CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University (1-3, 1-2 CCIW), 9-0, at the Beadles-Morse Tennis Courts in Bloomington, Ill.
Carthage's Bari Reynolds (Sr., Sterling, Ill., 5-1) defeated the Titans' Andrea Kerwin at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-0. Haleigh McPeek (Jr. Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 4-2) defeated IWU's Svenja Schroeder at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Abbi Howell (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 5-4) was a winner at No. 3 singles, as was Eliza Barter (Fr., Deerfield, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy, 5-4) at No. 4 singles, Holly Weber (Sr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central, 5-1) at No. 5 singles and Kelsey Bowen (Sr., Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton Township, 5-1) at No. 6 singles against the Cardinals.
The Lady Reds' No. 1 doubles team of Reynolds and McPeek (8-1) defeated Illinois Wesleyan's Andrea Kerwin/Lauren Drawbridge, 8-2. Carthage's No 2 team of Howell and Barter (4-2) was a winner, as was the Lady Reds' No. 3 tandem of Weber and Kristen Kalinka (Fr., Kenosha, Wis./St. Joseph, 8-1).
Carthage travels to Wheaton, Ill., on Tuesday, Sept. 17 for a CCIW-match versus Wheaton College (Ill.), beginning at 4 p.m.
