Box Score The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (15-4, 9-1 Midwest Lacrosse Conference) lost to Aurora University (15-3), 13-3, on Saturday, May 4 in the title game of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament at Aurora's Vago Field in Aurora, Ill. With the win, Aurora earned the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
Second-seeded Carthage defeated third-seeded Augustana College (Ill., 11-6, 8-2 MLC), 12-8, on Wednesday, May 1 in a semifinal game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. Top-seeded and conference-champion Aurora University (14-3, 10-0) swamped fourth-seeded the College of Mount St. Joseph (9-8, 6-3), 27-5, in the other semifinal game at Vago Field.
In the title contest, Aurora led, 3-2, after the first period, 5-2 at halftime. Carthage pulled to within two, 5-3, on a goal by
Danny Morse at 12:58 third period. The Spartans went back up by three, 6-3, at 11:01 on a goal by Jordan Williams and led by four, 7-3, after the third period. The final period was all Aurora, as the Spartans scored six more unanswered goals for the final, 13-3 margin.
Danny Morse (Jr., O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township), Jack Meachum (Jr., Naperville, Ill./North) and
Timothy Francis (So., Costa Mesa, Calif.) each scored a goal for the Red Men. Max Obriecht led the Spartans with four goals, seven ground balls and 10-of-16 face offs.
