The Carthage College men's tennis team (6-6, 1-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its CCIW-schedule on Friday, April 5 with a 6-3 win over Illinois Wesleyan University (4-4, 0-1 CCIW) at the Beadles-Morse Courts in Bloomington, Ill.

Jeff Lotz Jr. (Sr., Racine, Wis./Horlick, 18-10) lost his No. 1 singles match to the Titans' Brian Sorich, Sorich winning, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 .
Alex Boomgarden (Fr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 14-7) won his No. 2 singles match over Nick Kenaga, 6-0, 6-3.
Ryan Jump (Fr., Mundelein, Ill., 14-5) was a winner at No. 3 singles.
Juan Robles (So., Bogota, Columbia, 3-12) lost at No. 4 singles.
Brian Howes (Sr., Bartlett, Ill., 14-8) was a winner at No. 5 singles, as was
Tom Klassman (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove, 8-10) at No 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Boomgarden (12-8) defeated Brian Sorich/Nick Kenaga, 8-5. The No. 2 doubles team of
Conor Moon (So., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock (Ill.)-Marian Central Catholic) and
Brandon Curtis (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 5-8) lost to the Titans, but the No. 3 tandem of Howes and Jump (8-7) was a winner. Carthage plays non-conference opponent Westminster College (Mo.) on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m., also at the Beadles-Morse Courts.
