Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (11-6, 6-2 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) defeated MWLC-opponent Fontbonne University (2-8, 1-6 MWLC), 17-1, on Saturday afternoon, April 27 at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
With the win, the Lady Reds nailed down the third seed in the Friday-Saturday, May 3-4 MWLC Tournament at Augustana College's Thorsen-Lucken Field in Rock Island, Ill. Carthage will take on second-seeded North Central College (11-4, 7-1 MWLC) in a Friday, May 3 semifinal contest at 3 p.m., with conference-champion Augustana (Ill., 14-3, 8-0) playing fourth-seeded Concordia University (Wis., 7-7, 5-3) in the other semifinal game, beginning at 7 p.m. The Saturday, May 4 championship game gets underway at 7 p.m. Carthage just lost to North Central (Ill.), 10-9 in overtime, on Thursday, April 25 in Naperville, Ill.
The Lady Reds led the Griffins, 12-0, at halftime.
Lauren Chatham (Jr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) led Carthage with five goals.
Sydney Whitaker (Jr. Bainbridge Wash.) had four goals and an assist,
Maya Varma (Fr., Darien, Ill./Lombard-Montini Catholic) three goals and an assist and
Olivia Nino (Sr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) three goals and a pair of ground balls.
