Box Score The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (14-3, 9-1 Midwest Lacrosse Conference) lost a regular-season-ending showdown for the Midwest Lacrosse Conference title on Saturday night, April 27 with a 14-3 loss to Aurora University (13-3, 10-0 MLC) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. With the win, Aurora won this year's conference championship and will be the top seed in the MLC Tournament.
Carthage, seeded second, plays host to third-seeded Augustana College (Ill., 11-5, 8-2 MLC) on Wednesday, May 1 in a Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament semifinal game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis., beginning at 7 p.m. Top-seeded and conference-champion Aurora University (13-3, 10-0) plays host fourth-seeded the College of Mount St. Joseph (9-7, 6-3) in the other semifinal game at Vago Field in Aurora, Ill., beginning at 5 p.m. The highest-remaining seed after the semifinals plays host to the Saturday, May 4 championship game. Carthage won this year's regular-season game at Augustana (Ill.), 7-6, on April 6 at Thorsen-Lucken Field.
In the loss to Aurora, the Spartans jumped out to a quick, 5-0 lead in the first period behind two goals by Max Obriecht. Aurora extended its lead to 8-1 at halftime, with Obriecht scoring his third goal in the second period. The Spartans made it an 11-1 contest after the third period. Obriecht and Danny Loyall wound up with three goals each for Aurora.
