The Carthage College men's tennis team (9-8, 2-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) defeated CCIW-opponent North Central College (3-13, 0-4 CCIW), 7-2, on Monday, April 22 at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Carthage's
Jeff Lotz Jr. (Sr., Racine, Wis./Horlick, 21-12) won his No. 1 singles match over the Cardinals' Adam Ciccone, 6-0, 6-0.
Alex Boomgarden (Fr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 18-8) defeated Rustam Saini at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Ryan Jump (Fr., Mundelein, Ill., 18-6) was a winner at No. 3 singles.
Juan Robles (So., Bogota, Columbia, 5-15) lost at No. 4 singles.
Brian Howes (Sr., Bartlett, Ill., 18-9) won at No. 5 singles, as did
Tom Klassman (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove, 11-12) at No 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Boomgarden (15-10) was a winner over the North Central's Ciccone and Travis Kaszynski, 8-2. The No. 2 doubles team of
Brandon Curtis (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) and
Conor Moon (So., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock (Ill.)-Marian Central Catholic, 7-12) lost to the Cardinals, but the No. 3 tandem of Jump and Howes (11-9) was a winner.
On Wednesday, April 24, the Red Men play host to Lake Forest College (9-10) in a 5:30 p.m. contest at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
