Jeff Lotz Jr. (Sr., Racine, Wis./Horlick, 20-12) won his No. 1 singles match over the Bluejays' Alex Harbert, 6-3, 6-2. With the win, Lotz won his 91st career singles match and became the Red Men's career leader, passing
Matt Whiteside with 90 wins between 2009 and 2012.
Alex Boomgarden (Fr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 17-8) defeated Wil Jung at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1, and
Ryan Jump (Fr., Mundelein, Ill., 17-6) was a winner at No. 3 singles.
Juan Robles (So., Bogota, Columbia, 5-14) at No. 4 singles, as did
Brian Howes (Sr., Bartlett, Ill., 17-9) at No. 5 singles and
Tom Klassman (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove, 10-12) at No 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Boomgarden (14-10) was a winner over the Bluejays' Harbert and Jung, 9-8. The No. 2 doubles team of
Conor Moon (So., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock (Ill.)-Marian Central Catholic) and
Brandon Curtis (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 7-9) lost to Elmhurst, as did the No. 3 tandem of Howes and Jump (10-9).
Carthage plays host to conference-opponent North Central College (3-12, 0-3 CCIW) on Monday, April 22 in a 3 p.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
