Women's Lacrosse Defeats Pacific, 15-13 in OT, on March 30

Lady Reds Travel to Augustana (Ill.) on Tuesday

Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (4-4, 1-0 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) evened its season record at 4-4 by closing out a two-game trip to the Pacific Northwest on Saturday, March 30 with a 15-13 win, in overtime, over Pacific University (5-4) at the University of Puget Sound's East Athletic Field in Tacoma, Wash.

The Lady Reds opened the trip on Thursday, March 28 with a 12-11 win over Puget Sound (3-5) at Peyton Field at Baker Stadium
 
In the Pacific game,  the Lady Reds out-scored the Boxers, 9-3, in the first period.  Pacific topped Carthage by the same margin in the second half to leave the game in a 12-12 tie after regulation.  In overtime, Carthage's Sydney Whitaker, Lauren Chatham and Andrea Wambaugh scored in quick succession between 5:39 and 3:02 to put the Lady Reds up by three, 15-12.  Kaitlyn Harper scored for Pacific with 53 seconds remaining in overtime to close out the scoring.
 
Sydney Whitaker (Bainbridge, Wash.) led Carthage with four goals and an assist.  Olivia Nino (Sr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) had two goals, one assist and four ground balls.  Kelly Stevens led the Boxers with five goals, two assists and seven ground balls.
 
Carthage travels to Rock Island, Ill., on Tuesday, April 2 to play conference-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 6-3, 2-0 MWLC) in a 7:30 p.m. game at Thorson-Lucken Field.
