Box Score 2 The Carthage College softball team (7-3, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin), ranked 14th in the March 20 National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, split a pair of games on Monday, March 25 at the National Training Center Spring Games in Clermont, Fla., defeating the State University of New York-New Paltz (4-4), 2-1, before losing to Buena Vista University (5-4) by a 1-0 margin.

Krystina Leazer (Sr., Des Plaines, Ill./Elk Grove) upped her record to 5-1 by allowing just one unearned run on three hits and three walks over seven innings, while striking out 11 batters. In the loss to Buena Vista, the Beavers scored the game's lone run in the first inning when Jordan Pilcher homered off Carthage pitcher Tina Campbell (Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood, 1-2). Buena Vista pitcher Jenna Falline (4-1) stymied the Lady Reds on one hit Carthage had a base runner in the third inning on an error by Falline, with Olivia Scot singling in the fifth.
Carthage opened its trip on Friday, March 22 by losing both ends of a split doubleheader, falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater (2-0), 3-0, and losing to No. 13 Tufts University (10-1) by a 3-1 margin. On Saturday, March 23, Carthage defeated the State University of New York-Fredonia (2-2), 2-1, and won over the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2-2).
On Tuesday, March 26, the Lady Reds take on Grove City College at 1 p.m. (all times EDT) and Eastern Connecticut State University at 3 p.m. The trip concludes on Wednesday, March 27 with games against Concordia University (Wis.) at 5 p.m. and the University of Southern Maine at 7 p.m.
