Lady Reds Open Pacific Northwest Trip at Puget Sound on Thursday

Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (2-4, 1-0 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) opened conference play on Saturday morning, March 23 with a 17-3 win over Aurora University (1-6, 1-1 MWLC) at Vago Field in Aurora, Ill.  Carthage led at halftime, 11-2, and the Lady Reds out-scored the Spartans, 6-1, in the second period. 
 
Sydney Whitaker (Jr., Bainbridge, Wash.) led Carthage with five goals and an assist.  Andrea Wambaugh (Fr., Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) had three goals and five ground balls, Meghan Welle (Fr., Goshen, Ky./North Oldham) two goals and four ground balls, and Natalie Ceis had two goals.  Goalkeeper Ali Gorman (Jr., Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) played the first 41 minutes and collected four saves.
 
Carthage travels to the Pacific Northwest for two games between March 28-30.  On Thursday, March 28, the Lady Reds play the University of Puget Sound (3-4) in a 3 p.m., PST game at Peyton Field at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.  On Saturday, March 30, Carthage takes on Pacific University in a 3 p.m., PST contest, also at Puget Sound's Baker Stadium.
