The Carthage College men's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened the indoor portion of its 2012-13 season on Saturday, Feb. 2 with a 6-3 loss to Carroll University (Wis.) at the Moorland Park Tennis Center in Waukesha, Wis.

Jeff Lotz Jr. (Sr., Racine, Wis./Horlick, 5-3) fell to Carroll's Jack Michael at No. 1 singles, Michael winning, 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-7.
Alex Boomgarden (Fr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 4-1) defeated Kevin Rasmussen at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Ryan Jump (Fr., Mundelein, Ill., 4-1) was a winner at No. 3 singles, as was
Brian Howes (Sr., Bartlett, Ill., 6-2) at No. 4 singles.
Juan Robles (So., Bogota, Columbia, 0-1) lost at No. 5 singles, as did
Tom Klassman (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove, 0-4) at No. 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Boomgarden (2-4) fell to Jack Michael/Ryne Fertitta, 8-6. The No. 2 doubles team of Jump and
Brandon Curtis (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 0-1) fell to the Pioneers, as did the No. 3 tandem of Robles and
Conor Moon (So., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock (Ill.)-Marian Central Catholic, 0-1).
Carthage travels to Elsah, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 8-9 to play in the Principia College Tournament at the Hexberg Tennis Center.
