Carthage qualified two team members for the Friday-Saturday, March 8-9 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship at North Central College's Al B. Carius Track in Naperville, Ill.
Trevor James (Jr., Maywood, Ill./Chicago-Hope Academy) qualified in the high jump (ranked fifth nationally at 6-10 ¼) and finished second with a Carthage-record 7-0 ¼. Heidelberg University's Nathan Davis won the event, also at 7-0 ¼, but Davis cleared the height on his second attempt and James on his third.
Derrik Guyette (So., Hortonville, Wis.) qualified in the weight throw (ranked 10th at 59-11 ¼) and finished 10th (57-3 ½). The Red Men tied for 21st place in the 63-team championship.
On the women's side,
Becca McMullin (So., Round Lake, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community) qualified in the weight throw (ranked 15th nationally at 54-1 1/2 ) and finished 13th (52-1 3/4).
