The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (12-5, 5-1 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference), the No. 2 seed in the Friday-Saturday, May 4-5 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament, lost to top-seeded Adrian College (17-2, 7-0 MWLC), 11-6, on Saturday, May 5 in the title game of the tournament at Adrian College's Multisport Performance Stadium in Adrian, Mich. The top-four teams qualify for the post-season event.
Carthage defeated third-seeded North Central College (6-10, 5-2 MWLC), 14-9, in a semifinal game on Friday, May 4, with Adrian College (16-2) swamping fourth-seeded the College of Mount St. Joseph (5-10, 3-4), 19-5, in the other semifinal contest.
In the title game, Adrian led, 6-1, at halftime, but the Lady Reds played the Bulldogs even, 5-5, in the second period. Olivia Duncan led Adrian with four goals, two ground balls and caused turnover. Amanda Lambert added three goals.
Natalie Ceis (Jr., Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) led the Lady Reds with two goals.
In the win over North Central, Carthage led, 8-3, at halftime. The Lady Reds upped their lead to seven points, 10-3, early in the second period and went on to win by five, 14-9.
Sydney Whitaker (So., Bainbridge, Wash.) led the Lady Reds with four goals and an assist.
Natalie Ceis (Jr., Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep),
Desirae Murphy (Jr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville),
Olivia Nino (Jr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) and
Hannah Sopeth (Sr., Lakeville, Minn./North) added two goals each. Jacqueline Morgan led the Cardinals with three goals.
