The Carthage College women's tennis team (9-6, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) closed out a five-match spring trip to Orlando, Fla., on Friday, March 23 by splitting a pair of matches. The Lady Reds defeated Colorado College (7-5), 6-3, before losing to Hope College (6-4) by an 8-1 margin.
Carthage's
Hollis McPeek (Sr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 10-9) defeated Colorado College's Deanna Thirkell, 6-0, 3-6, 10-8, at No. 1 singles before losing to Hope's Carli Capestany, the latter winning, 6-3, 6-3.
Bari Reynolds (So., Sterling, Ill., 16-6) defeated Colorado College's Katie Patterson, 6-2, 6-4,, at No. 2 singles but lost to Hope's Casey Baxter, Baxter winning, 6-4, 6-4.
Haleigh McPeek (Fr., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 2-3) split at No. 3 singles.
Kristina Naidicz (Sr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 10-11) lost both of her at No. 4 singles matches, as did
Erin Henrickson (Fr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 5-15) at No. 5 singles.
Abbi Howell (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest, 1-2) split at No. 6 singles. Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of McPeek and McPeek (5-0) won over both Colorado College and Hope. The Lady Reds' No. 2 team of Reynolds and Naidicz (1-4) split, and Carthage's No. 3 tandem of Henrickson and Bizub (2-3) lost both matches.
Carthage plays host to Concordia University (Wis.) on Wednesday, April 11 in a 4 p.m. contest at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
