The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (5-1, 1-0 Midwest Men's Lacrosse Conference) opened conference play on Saturday, March 24 with an 11-2 win over Hanover College (4-4, 1-2) at L.S. Ayres Field in Hanover, Ind.
Carthage led, 3-0, after the first period, 6-0 at halftime and 8-0 after three periods.
Danny Morse (So., O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) led the Red Men with two goals and three assists.
Alek Szmajda (Jr., St. Charles, Ill./North) and
Chris Kochajkiewicz (Sr., Roselle, Ill./Hoffman Estates-Conant) each had two goals and one assist, and
Mason Poage (Jr., Columbia, Mo./Hickman) added two goals.
Andrew Bellville (Sr., Deer Park, Ill./Lake Zurich) had a school-record 10 caused turnovers, and
Dylan Delaney (Fr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville) set a Carthage record with 14 ground balls.
Carthage completes its four-game spring trip on Sunday, March 25 with a 2 p.m., EDT makeup contest versus the College of Mount St. Joseph at Schueler Field in Cincinnati, Ohio. The game versus the Lions, originally scheduled for March 17, was postponed due to the threat of bad weather.
