Lady Reds Open a Two-Game Colorado Trip on Monday

Box Score The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (3-1, 0-0 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) played its 2012 home-opener on Saturday, March 17 and won a 13-10 game over Augustana College (Ill., 6-3) at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.  The Vikings, in their first year of varsity competition, will join the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference next season. 

The Lady Reds led, 8-5, at halftime behind two goals by Hannah Sopeth (Sr., Lakeville, Minn./North).  The two teams played to a 5-5 tie in the second half, with the Lady Reds leading by as much as five, 12-7 and 13-8.
 
Sopeth wound up with three goals and an assist, while Natalie Ceis (Jr., Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) also had three goals.  Mary Handrahan (Sr., Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) and Taylor Holleschau (Fr., Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) had three ground balls each.  Carthage opens a two-game spring trip to Colorado on Monday, March 19 with a 4 p.m., MDT game versus Colorado College at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs, Colo.
