The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (2-0, 0-0 Midwest Men's Lacrosse Conference) opened its 2012 season by winning two games on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 24-25 at Hendrix College's Warrior Field in Conway, Ark. Carthage defeated Hendrix College (0-1), 7-1, on Friday, Feb. 24 and upended Mount Ida College (0-1) by a 13-7 margin.
In the win over Hendrix, Carthage led, 3-1, at halftime, 4-1 after three periods and scored three times in the final period.
Danny Morse (So., O'Fallon, Mo./O'Fallon Township) scored three goals for the Red Men, with single goals for
Keegan Bowman (Sr., New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster Secondary),
Cory Childs (Sr., Savage, Minn./Prior Lake),
Chris Kochajkiewicz (Sr., Roselle, Ill./Hoffman Estates-Conant) and
Hunter Douglas (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain).
In the Mount Ida contest, Carthage led, 7-2, at halftime.
Keegan Bowman led the way against Mustangs with four goals, while
Danny Morse and
Seth Molek (Jr., Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) had three goals each.
Cory Childs had three assists, while
Dylan Delaney (Fr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville), this week's Midwest Men's Lacrosse Conference “Player of the Week” had a school-record 18 face-off wins. Mount Ida has qualified for three of the last five NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships.
Carthage travels to Sewanee, Tenn., on Saturday, March 10 for a Noon game versus The University of the South (2-2) at McGee Field.
