The Carthage College women's swimming team (1-0 dual-meet record) opened its 2012-13 season on Friday, Oct. 26 with a 153-141 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater at Williams Center Pool in Whitewater, Wis.
Carthage's
Ashley Gladis (So., Batavia, Ill.) won both the 100 butterfly (1:00.08) and 200 individual medley (2:17.11), while
Kelly Loftus (Jr., Winfield, Ill./West Chicago) took first place in both the 100 backstroke (1:02.12) and the 200 backstroke (2:15.62).
Ember McCoy (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won the 200 freestyle (2:01.62), while finishing second in both the 500 freestyle (5:28.21) and the 1,000 freestyle (11:14.01).
Kailin Potter (Fr., Granger, Ind./Perin) won the 100 freestyle (55.62) and finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.65).
Michelle Hance (Fr., Noblesville, Ind.) won the 50 freestyle (25.24).
Lisa Perdue (So., Whittier, Calif.) was second in the 200 freestyle (2:04.25), as was
Susan Peinsipp (Jr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) in the 200 butterfly (2:16.48),
Kailyn Gebner (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Central) in the 200 backstroke (2:17.25) and
Allison Soper (So., Downers Grove, Ill./North) in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.54). The Lady Reds also picked up wins from their 200 medley relay team and the 200 freestyle relay team.
Carthage plays host to Lake Forest College on Saturday, Nov. 3 in a 1 p.m. dual meet at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
