Lady Reds Play Host to Concordia (Wis.) on Wednesday

The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (7-7, 6-1 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference) defeated conference-opponent Trine University (6-4, 4-2 MWLC), 14-12, on Sunday, April 17 at Zollner Stadium in Angola, Ind.

Carthage led, 9-5, at halftime. The Thunder pulled to within two points on three occasions before the Lady Reds' Sydney Whitaker scored at 8:54 to put Carthage up by three, 14-11. Trine had a narrow, 34-31 edge in shots. Anna Schweiss (Fr., Parker, Colo./Chaparral) led the Lady Reds with five goals. Kate Flanagan (Sr., Wheeling, Ill.) and Sydney Whitaker (Fr., Bainbridge, Wash.) had two goals and two assists each, with Flanagan collecting four ground balls. Natalie Ceis (So., Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) had two goals and one assist. Emily Canepa topped the Thunder with five goals.

Carthage plays host to conference-opponent Concordia University (Wis., 0-11, 0-7 MWLC) on Wednesday, April 20 in a 7 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
