The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (5-0, 0-0 Midwest Men's Lacrosse Conference) upended Hanover College (1-3), 21-3, on Saturday, March 12 at L.S. Ayres Field in Hanover, Ind.
Carthage led, 13-0, at halftime and 17-0 after the third period. The Red Men out-shot the first-year Panthers, 49-3. Mike Upshaw (So., Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) scored five goals with an assist, while Mason Poage (So., Columbia, Mo./Hickman) had three goals and two assists. Hunter Douglas (So., Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) collected a team-leading five ground balls. Chris Baney scored all three Hanover goals.
Carthage opens a three-game spring trip to Georgia on Wednesday, March 16 by playing Oglethorpe University in a 3:30 p.m. game (all times EDT) at Salamone Field in Atlanta. On Friday, March 18, the Red Men take on Berry College in a 1 p.m. contest at the Ford Lacrosse/Soccer Field in Mount Berry. The trip concludes on Saturday, March 19 with a Noon game versus Mercer University at Bear Field in Macon.
