The Carthage College women's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) opens its 2011-12 season on Tuesday, Nov. 15 by playing host to No. 47 St. Norbert College in a 7:30 game at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis.
Connie Tilley (554-258, 34 years) coaches the Green Knights, who had an outstanding season last year, going 23-2 overall and winning the Midwest Conference championship with a 17-1 mark. St. Norbert lost to Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 79-69, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The Lady Reds lead the series with the Green Knights, which dates to a 1979 game in Green Bay, Wis., 3-0. The two teams have not played in 30 years, with the last meeting coming on Feb. 14, 1981 at the Wisconsin-Green Bay Invitational.
Carthage lost to Marquette University, 64-38, in an exhibition game on Saturday night, Nov. 5, at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee. The Lady Reds tavel to Milwaukee on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 18-19 to play in the Wisconsin Lutheran College “Dunn's Sporting Goods Tip-Off Tournament” at the Recreation Complex Center. On Friday, Nov. 18, Carthage plays Nebraska Wesleyan University at 5 p.m., followed by Wisconsin Lutheran taking on Bethel University (Minn.) at 7 p.m. The Saturday, Nov. 19 consolation and championship games will be at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
