The Carthage College women's tennis team (1-0, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) opened its 2010-11 season on Friday, Sept. 3 by edging CCIW-opponent Illinois Wesleyan University (1-2, 1-2 CCIW), 5-4, at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Hollis McPeek (Jr., Lake Bluff/Lake Forest) defeated the Titans' Helen Alex, 7-5, 6-4, at number-one singles. Andrea Kerwin defeated the Lady Reds'
Bari Reynolds (Fr., Sterling, Ill.), 4-6, 7-5, 10-6, at number-two singles.
Kristina Naidicz ((Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) was a winner at number-three singles.
Kelsey Bowen (Fr., Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) lost at number-four singles.
Amanda Bizub (Jr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) was a winner at number-five singles, while
Holly Weber (Fr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) lost at number-six singles. Carthage's number-one doubles team of McPeek and Naidicz was a winner over IWU. The Lady Reds' number-two team of Bowen and Bizub lost, and the number-three tandem of Reynolds and Weber was winner.
On Saturday, Sept. 4, the Lady Reds travel to Whitewater, Wis., to play in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament, beginning at 9 a.m.
