Women's Tennis Nipped in CCIW Match by Augustana (Ill.), 5-4, on Sept. 11

Lady Reds Play Host to Concordia (Wis.) on Monday

The Carthage College women's tennis team (2-1, 1-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to CCIW-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 5-2, 4-1 CCIW), 5-4, on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Rock Island, Ill.

Carthage's Hollis McPeek (Jr., Lake Bluff/Lake Forest, 2-1) lost to the Vikings' Shannen McNamara, 6-3, 6-2, at number-one singles, and Bari Reynolds (Fr., Sterling, Ill., 2-4) fell to Kim Sawyer, 6-0, 6-3, at number-two singles. Kristina Naidicz (Jr., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper, 2-1) lost at number-three singles, as did Kelsey Bowen (Fr., Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton Township, 1-2) at number-four singles. Amanda Bizub (Jr., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead, 3-0) was a winner at number-five singles, as was Holly Weber (Fr., Salem, Wis./Westosha Central, 2-1) at number six singles.

The Lady Reds' number-one doubles team of McPeek and Naidicz (5-1) was a winner over the Augustana, as was the number-two team of Reynolds and Bizub (1-0). Carthage's number-three team of Bowen and Weber (0-1) lost to the Vikings. The Lady Reds play host to Concordia University (Wis., 2-1) on Monday, Sept. 13 in a 3 p.m. match at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
