The Carthage College women's tennis team (11-9, 5-1 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to Wisconsin-Whitewater (22-5), 9-0, on Saturday, May 1 at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
Carthage's Gina Klein (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 13-12) lost to Wisconsin-Whitewater's Kalla Schaefer at number-one single, Schaefer winning, 6-1, 6-1, and Hollis McPeek (So., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 18-7) fell to the Warhawks' Amy Siemon at number-two singles, Siemon winning, 3-6, 6-2, 10-1. Kristina Naidicz (So., Kenosha, Wis./Tremper/UW-Oshkosh, 14-9) lost at number-three singles, as did Ashley Morgan (Sr., Afton, Minn./Stillwater Area, 14-8) at number-four singles, Amanda Bizub (So., Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead, 9-6) at number-five singles and Alex Maniscalo (Jr., Lemont, Ill., 1-8) at number-six singles.
Carthage's number-one doubles team of Klein and McPeek (17-8) fell to UW-Whitewater, as did the Lady Reds' number-two team of Naidicz and Morgan (4-5) and Carthage's number-three tandem of Bizub and Kaitlyn Farrell (Jr., Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township, 1-8). Carthage travels to Bloomington, Ill., on Friday-Saturday, May 7-8 for the CCIW Automatic Qualifying Tournament at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
