The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (2-8) lost to the University of Puget Sound (8-2), 17-8, on Saturday, April 3 at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis. The Loggers led, 11-4, at halftime. Puget Sound out-shot Carthage, 37-29, while the Lady Reds had an advantage in ground balls, 30-22. Julia Schulman led Puget Sound with six goals. Natalie Ceis (Fr., Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) and Olivia Nino (Fr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) each had two goals for Carthage.
The Lady Reds edged Trine University (2-6), 13-11, on Friday, April 2, also at Art Keller Field. The shots were even at 28-28, but Carthage had a 22-7 edge in ground balls. Carthage's Kate Flanagan (Jr., Wheeling, Ill.) had three goals, five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Desirae Murphy (Fr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville) had three goals, as did Olivia Nino (Fr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill). Mary Handrahan (So., Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich/Trine University) had two goals and an assist against her former teammates. Morgan Weinstock (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) totaled four ground balls. The Lady Reds play host to the College of Wooster (5-2) on Saturday, April 10 in a 1 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field.
