Carthage Men's Lacrosse Defeats University of the South, 9-7, on March 8

The Carthage College men's lacrosse team (4-0, 1-0 Midwest Lacrosse Conference) defeated the University of the South (0-3), 9-7, on Monday, March 8 at Puett Field in Sewanee, Tenn. 

The Tigers got out to an early 4-1 lead. Carthage began its rally in the second quarter and the score was tied, 4-4, at the halftime break. In the second half, the teams traded goals until Carthage finally got two goals ahead for the 9-7 win. 

Jack Thomasson Carson Pfeifer led the Sewanee offensive effort with two goals apiece. Stewart Calder faced 28 shots in goal and logged nine saves for Sewanee. Keegan Bauman (So., New Westminster, British Columbia) led Carthage with four goals and Dan Hurst (So., Columbia, Mo./Hickman) faced 33 Sewanee shots and collected 11 saves. Sewanee had a 38-20 advantage in ground balls and won 10-of-16 faceoffs. The Red Men's spring trip concludes on Thursday, March 11 with a 4 p.m., EST game at Guilford College (0-5) in Greensboro, N.C.
