Lady Reds Play Host to Trine University on Friday

The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (1-7) lost to the University of the South (8-2), 20-4, on Monday, March 29 at McGee Field in Sewanee, Tenn. The Tigers led 13-3 at the half and increased their lead to 16 points at the final buzzer. Carly Grimm and Molly Arnold led the University of the South attack with three goals apiece, while Allison Bland, Shelby Bartlett, Steffi Renninger and Olivia Vietor each scored two goals for the Tigers. Kate Flanagan (Jr., Wheeling, Ill.) led Carthage with two goals. The University of the South out-shot Carthage, 34-16 and picked up 23 ground balls compared to 13 for the Lady Reds.

The University of the South contest concluded a three-game trip. Carthage won its first game of the season on Saturday, March 27 with a 17-7 decision over the University of Dallas (1-7), at Birmingham-Southern College's Panther Stadium in Birmingham, Ala. The Lady Reds lost to Birmingham-Southern (8-2), 13-11, on Sunday, March 28, also at Panther Stadium. Carthage plays host to Trine University on Friday, April 2 in a 7 p.m. game at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
