Carthage Women's Lacrosse Ends Spring Trip with a 17-7 Loss to Occidental

The Carthage College women's lacrosse team (0-4) concluded its spring trip to the West Coast on Saturday, March 13 with a 17-7 loss to Occidental College (1-3) at D.W. Patterson Field in Los Angeles. Occidental jumped out to a 10-3 halftime lead. The Lady Reds got as close as six points, 12-6, before the Tigers finished the game with a 5-1 run to win by 10, 17-7. Occidental out-shot Carthage, 45-18. Sarah Kessler led the Tigers with six goals. Desirae Murphy (Fr., Savage, Minn./Burnsville) and Alyssa Servant (So., Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) each had two goals for Carthage.

The Lady Reds opened their inaugural season on Tuesday, March 9 with a 15-9 loss to Whittier College (2-2) at Memorial Stadium in Whittier, Calif. Carthage lost to the University of Redlands (3-1), 20-5, on Friday, March 12 at Farquhar Field in Redlands, Calif., and lost to Pomona-Pitzer College (2-2), 21-10, on Wednesday, March 10 at the Donald E. Graham Soccer/Lacrosse Field in Claremont, Calif. The Lady Reds play host to Linfield College on Monday, March 22 in a 7 p.m. contest at Art Keller Field in Kenosha, Wis.
