Carthage Basketball Opens CCIW-Play This Week vs. Wheaton (Ill.) at Tarble Arena

The Carthage College basketball teams both open their CCIW-schedules this week with home games against Wheaton College (Ill.) at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. The Lady Reds (10-1, 0-0 CCIW), ranked eighth in the Jan. 5 Women's Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division III poll and 11th in the Jan. 5 “D3hoops.com” poll, play host to the Thunder (6-4, 0-0) on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Carthage will be eyeing its best start in school history. At 10-1, this year's team has matched Coach Diane Mizerka's 1972-73 squad with a 10-1 record to start the season. Current head Coach Tim Bernero (99-67, 7 years) will be also be looking for his 100th career victory on Tuesday. The No. 35 Red Men (8-3, 0-0) take on No. 14 Wheaton (Ill., 8-3, 0-0) on Wednesday, also at 7:30 p.m.
